50 Great Date Ideas


50 Great Date Ideas 
These ideas were thought up for the Rexburg area, but they can easily be used anywhere.
Fun Dates (18): 
1 Italiano Date 
Make chef hats out of newspaper, wear mustaches, make pizza together, have Italian music playing in the background, opt. go ballroom dancing afterwards
Expenses: Ingredients for pizza, Italian ice for dessert, opt. sparkling cider to jazz it up, opt. 2 dollars to get into ballroom dancing. 
This would mainly be a fun date but it would also give you the chance to see what kind of toppings he prefers on his pizza-that can be a deal breaker to some people.
2 NASCAR
·         Make cars out of card board boxes, opt. play Mario cart, eat stadium food, “drive” cars to an on campus movie.
·         Expenses: The food and the entry fee for the movie
·         Fun date that allows you to see each other’s creativity and to see if they get angry easily.
3 Let Us Be Kids
·         Eat little kid food (Chicken nuggets, mac n’ cheese, apple sauce), go to the park and play little kid games (freeze tag, duck duck goose, play on the playground, chalk), after wards eat otter pops.
·         Expenses: Food
·         This date would work best as a large group date.
4 City Picnic Exploration
·         Go to a big city and explore the tourist or non-tourist sites of the city, then go to a park or somewhere with a view and have a picnic lunch or dinner, for dessert you roast marshmallows or starbursts over a candle.
·         Expense: Entrée fee into museums, parking, the picnic meal.
·         This is a bigger date and could potentially cost more, but it would be way fun and romantic if you’re with a person you like. It allows you to get a sense of their adventurous spirit and to see how well they navigate through a city and shows what kind of sites/museums they enjoy the most.
5 Artists at Play
·         Mix many bowls of vanilla pudding with different colors and figure paint. You can paint portraits of each other, do pictures for one another, or paint random pictures and use them to “heart attack” someone’s door.
·         Expense: Pudding, food coloring, paper.
·         See the artistic side of your date and how playful/imaginative they are.
6 Biking Date
·         Rent a tandem bike and bike around Rexburg then have a picnic at a park
·         Expense: Bike rental and picnic food.
·         Would allow you to see where your date would go if they had to always be attached to someone, witness they’re playfulness and if you’re in the back you get to check out how good of a butt your date has.
7 Farm that Market
·         Go to the farmers market, eat food, see new things, and enjoy the general splendor.
·         Expense: However much you decide to buy.
·         In the spring and summer behind taco bell there is a farmers market every Friday and it is so much fun! Get to see what kind of food your date in to and what they’re willing to try/what interests them.
8 Fishing
·         Go fishing in a nearby lake or river.
·         Expense: Fishing license, the probability of having to rent fishing equipment.
·         Fishing is just great fun and with all that free time it allows plenty of socializing to happen.
9 Dunes
·         Go out to the dunes and have dinner, fire, star gazing.
·         Expense: Food
·         A date at the dunes is always fun, especially if you can get a few other couples to come.
10 Yellowstone
·         Get a group together one Saturday and drive out to Yellowstone.
·         Expense: Food
·         There is a weekend in the next upcoming months in which you can get into Yellowstone free. It’s a great opportunity to see many wildlife as well as gorgeous landscapes.
11 Ice Cream Sculpting
·         Buy half gallon ice cream, cut it out of the container, and with the table covered, sculpt your ice cream into whatever you want.
·         Expense: Ice cream
·         It’s fun to see the reaction when your dates hand gets really cold, also allows you to see their creative side.
12 Tie dye
·         Get a tie dye kit and dye things from shirts to ties to socks.
·         Expense: Tie dye kit
·         This would be a fun date and it whenever you’d wear your tie dye cloths you’d always remember that date…which hopefully would be a good thing.
13 Water Balloon Extravaganzas
Do water balloon bowling, have a water balloon fight, water balloon toss.
Expense: Water balloons
Mainly a fun date. Would be best with a bigger group.
14 Foam Sword Fight
·         Go to the store to buy pvc pipe, foam pool noodles, and colorful electric/duct tape. Each person can make their own sword, customize it, and then have an epic battle.
·         Expense: Materials needed for making swords
·         What college kid doesn’t want their own sword?
15 Ice Caves
·         Drive out to the ice caves, break glow sticks over one another, and then play hide in go seek.
·         Expense: Glow sticks, gas.
·         This would be a fun date that also lets you see your dates adventurous side.
16 Drive in Movie
·         When it starts to get warmer going to a drive in movie is a great date.
·         Expense: Tickets and treats.
·         This date is one that allows you to just have a good time with your date and friends.
17 Water Park
·         Go to the new water park and enjoy the warm day and water.
·         Expense: Entry fee
·         Not only do you get to check your date our in a swim suit and not be considered creepy, it is a date sure to be fun for everyone who goes.
18 Themed Bowling
·         Before you go bowling write about 50 or so different themes on pieces of paper, then each time a person is up to bowl they have to bowl the theme they pick.
·         Expense: Bowling fee
·         Get to see the creativity of your date and see how well they bowl.

Animal Dates (3):
1 Dog Walking
·         Go to the local animal shelter and volunteer to help with the animals. They allow you to service options like walking, washing, socializing, feed, to laundry, and take photos or videos.
·         Expense: None
·         Will be able to see his will to do service and see how he gets along with animals (preferably dogs).
2 Teaching Tricks
·         Volunteering at the animal shelter and while walking the dogs try and teach them new tricks.
·         Expense: None
·         This will allow you to see the patients of your date and how well they are able to teach. It also allows you to see how well they associate with the best pets ever.
3 Horseback Riding
·         Go horseback riding
·         Expense: How much the excursion will cost (This could be an expensive date)
·         Every once in a while the school will host a day to go horseback riding. It’d be interesting to see how well your date gets along with big animals and how much of a cowboy he is.

Cheap/No Cost Dates (24):
1 Free Car Wash
·         Send an announcement to each other’s apartment complex saying you’re having a free car wash and allow anyone who wants to to come and have their car cleaned.
·         Expenses: None
·         This date would allow you to notice the generosity of your date and to see if he enjoys doing service for others.
2 Time Capsule
·         Accumulate little things you’d like to put in your time capsule and write notes for the lucky future finders then hide it somewhere difficult.
·         Expense: None
·         It would be interesting to see what your date would write if someone were to find the capsule far in the future as well as what items they would put inside.
3 Reading Kid Books
·         Going to the library and reading your favorite childhood story books to one another.
·         Expense: None
·         You can make this date as elaborate or as simple as you want. It lets you see into your date’s childhood and lets you know how well they can read stories (aka how good they’ll be reading to little kids.)
4 Fitness Class
·         Go to an on campus fitness class together (Zumba, cycling, Abs that Rock, Step class)
·         Expense: None
·         Glimpse how in shape your date is and how coordinated they can be.
5 Photo Scavenger Hunt
·         Take pictures of items on your list then eat ice cream while looking at photos.
·         Expense: Ice cream

6 Hike R Mountain
·         Drive out to R Mountain and hike it up!
·         Expense: None
·         Get to check out your dates adventurous spirit (if they stay on the trail or go off it), see how athletic they are, and see how the enjoy nature.
7 Dance Night
·         Have dinner together then go out dancing (Country, Latin, Ballroom, and Swing.)
·         Expense: Dinner and dance entry
·         See how good a dancer your date is.

8 Geocaching
·         Get ahold of a handheld GPS and go geocaching on campus.
·         Expense: None
·         Will show your date’s adventurous side and how well they’re able to fine things.
9 Let’s Be a Fan
·         Have dinner that would be found at a stadium and then go be a spectator to one of your friends sport games. Be loud and cheering, opt. making signs.
·         Expense: Dinner and if you decide to make posters.
·         Shows how into sports they are, how they support a team, and if they enjoy watching sports.
10 Living Fancy Free
·         Dress up in your fanciest, most posh clothing and go out to eat at a fast food restaurant acting like it’s a five star joint, then go to an on campus music performance.
·         Expense: Dinner (many music performances on campus are free)
·         Allows you to see how well your date can hold character and if they enjoy classical music or not.
11 Go on a Walk
·         Read the title
·         Expense: none
·         Walks are always a good way to get to know someone on a deeper level. Plus with all this nice weather a walk around the Burg becomes quite desirable.
12 Stick that Note
·         Take a bunch of sticky notes and write all sorts of things on them and then go around the library sticking them on the outside or inside of books.
·         Expense: Sticky notes
·         This would be fun to see what your date would write down to leave for total strangers.
13 Moss Graffiti

·         Expense: Any ingredients for the moss slurry that you don’t have.
·         This is mainly a fun date but it would be interesting to see what your date would “paint”.
14 Go see a movie
·         Go on campus, to the cheap theaters, or go to one of your apartments and watch a movie.
·         Expense: Price of tickets and treats if you go out
·         I feel movie dates are pretty lame, but if you know the person well I think it’s a good date idea to be able to be with one another without having to think about a great date.
15 Go to the gym
·         Go to the hart gym together and work out aka gun show.
·         Expense: None
·         Not only do you get a good workout, you get to learn to workout styles. Warning: Sweat is likely to occur.
16 DI Dress Up
·         Go to the DI and pick atrocious clothing for your date to wear and take pictures.
·         Expense: None
·         This date lets you see how willing your date is to look silly in public and how terrible their taste in fashion can be.
17 Cupcake Dash
·         Make cupcakes together, decorate them, then ding dong ditch them at a friend or random apartment with a letter.
·         Expense: Cake mix and frosting
·         Mainly a fun date. Can see how well a cook your date is and see what type of people they’d want to leave cupcakes for.
18 Flubber

·         Expense: Ingredient for flubber
·         This is a fun date which allows you and your date to enjoy being kids again.
19 Make your own Jelly Fish
·         Following these instructions (http://bhoomplay.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/diy_jellyfish_eng/) and make your own homemade jelly fish. Make more and randomly drop them off at apartments.
·         Expense: Materials for jelly fish
·         This is a fun date that allows you and your date to experiment.
20 Random Dinner
·         Each person brings 5-10 ingredients from their house and they combine them together and try to make a meal out of it.
·         Expense: none
·         This date allows you to see how creative your date is and to see how they use minimal food to make something delicious.
21 Game Night
·         This is not using board games and cards, but using the ideas mentioned in this blog (http://calebandshelley.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-years-minute-to-win-it.html). If it’s a group date, you can keep score to see which couple is the winner and provide prizes.
·         Expense: Items needed for games and prizes.
·         This would allow you to see how well your date is at games and to see how competitive they can get.
22 Karaoke
·         Sammy’s or other local resturants have karaoke nights every now and then, go and make sure you both sing, perhaps a duet! Be sure to watch and enjoy other people singing. While you’re there you might as well grab some food.
·         Expense: Food
·         To see how well or how bad your date sings and if they are shy or outgoing.
23 Comedy Show
·         Go to a comedy show on campus
·         Expense: None
·         This allows you to see what type of humor your date has.
24 Lounge Jumping
·         Jump around different apartment lounges challenging each other to ping pong, air hockey, or pool and see who won the most rounds by the end of the night.
·         Expense: Free
·         Playing these games lets you see how coordinated your date is and how competitive they are.

Spiritual Dates (5):
1 Devotional
Go to devotional together.
Expenses: None
Allow you to see the spiritual side of your date and also to see how well they’re able to stay awake.
2 Church Exploration
One Sunday go to a local church that is not an LDS church. Afterwards you go home and have lunch/dinner and discuss what each other felt and how it strengthened or questioned your testimony.
Expense: None (hopefully unless the plate won’t leave until you put money into it)
I like this date idea because it is obscure and it also allows you to see ones spirituality when it’s in a different situation.
3 General Conference
Watch General Conference session together then have a meal, go on a walk, and discuss impressions and different things you liked about Conference.
 Expense: None
Who doesn’t love watch General Conference?
4 Fireside
Make dinner together then go to a CES fireside or stake fireside.
Expense: None
*See devotional
5 Letter Writing
Write letters/emails to missionary friends or even appreciation letters to parents.
Expense: None (unless you don’t have stamps)
To see how well they support their friends and what about their parents they appreciate. A man that loves his family gets bonus points.
